Orders are generally ready for pickup within a week of receiving your scans. We do our best to notify customers by email when orders arrive at their selected pickup location, but notifications may occasionally be delayed or missed due to transfers between locations.
If you haven’t received a pickup email after about a week, feel free to Contact Us for an update on your order status.
If you need to cancel your order, please Contact Us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help. Please note that refund availability depends on how much work has already been completed on your order at the time of cancellation.
Shipping & Delivery
Need to ship us your film for processing? Follow these steps:
- Select "Ship" at checkout, and check out as normal. (Please Note: The shipping charge at checkout is for us to return your order. You will either need to pay to ship your order to us or add our Prepaid USPS Label to your cart.)
- Place your film in a bubble mailer or box. Please include your name, 4-digit order number, email, and phone number with your film. (You can print out your order invoice and include that!)
- Using any major carrier (e.g., USPS, FedEx, UPS) ship your package to the following address: Red Finch Lab, ATTN: Film Processing, 533 N 1200 W, Orem, UT, 84057
Please note: Red Finch Lab is not responsible for any loss or damage caused by the shipment company (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.).
The shipping fee charged at check out comes from selecting "Ship" rather than "Pickup" when checking out. This fee is for us to return your order to you by shipping it and is automatically calculated based on your shipping address.
You will need to ship your order to us by using one of the major carriers (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx), or by adding our Prepaid Shipping Label to you order.
If you mistakenly chose "Ship" instead of "Pickup" at checkout, we can refund that shipping charge when you drop off your order for processing.
Once we receive your order we will notify you via email within 1 business day along with an estimated turnaround time.
Orders are shipped within 5 business days of being completed via USPS. You will receive an additional email with tracking information when your order ships.
Still Film Processing
We can process any 35mm, Disposable, 120, or 4x5 film from any brand.
We currently do not offer processing for 110, APS, 126, 127, or Kodachrome film.
Motion Picture Film Processing
We can process any Color Negative (ECN-2), Color Reversal (E-6), B&W Negative or B&W Reversal film in Super 8, 8mm, Double 8, 16mm, or Super 16 formats.
We currently do not offer processing for vintage film stocks. (e.g. Kodachrome, Ektachrome 120 Type A or Type G.)
We are currently outsourcing all motion picture film developing. But all scanning of motion picture film is done in house.
We are hard at work behind the scenes on being able to offer Color Negative (ECN-2) development in house in the coming months.
Development & Scanning
We use (and have available for request) the following scanners:
Still Film:
- Noritsu HS-1800 (Default for Still Film)
- Imacon Flextight X5 (Upon Request)
- Epson PerfectionV850 Pro (Upon Request)
Motion Picture Film:
- Cintel Scanner G3 HDR+ 8/16
In our opinion, the Frontier scanner has a more "baked-in" aesthetic to its scans, where the Noritsu HS-1800 offers a more neutral scan.
Scans from the Frontier may look good straight from the scanner, however they do not offer as much flexibility for post color correction or editing as scans from the Noritsu. Plus the Noritsu has the ability to scan at a slightly higher resolution that the Frontier.
The Noritsu HS-1800 scanner is designed to produce natural contrast and softer shadow detail. However, this can sometimes result in a slight green cast, especially on underexposed film.
We do our best to manually correct white balance and exposure during scanning, but scans are intended to serve as a flexible starting point for editing. Final color correction and creative adjustments are expected to be done by customers after delivery.
